Moving A Ceiling Light To A Wall
Remove the existing light fixture junction box and turn it so that it is accessible from above.
Moving a ceiling light to a wall. Identify the location for the new light fixture and use the stud sensor to make sure there are no joists directly. Shut off the circuit breaker switch for the light you re planning to move. Remove the external housing and the light bulb. Remove the internal housing from the ceiling or wall.
Next i took one of the new light boxes and traced an outline of where i wanted the new box placed. Use the template provided with the junction box to trace a cut line onto the ceiling. Install the required length of new wiring to the new location for the light fixture. Make the opening in the ceiling for the new light fixture.
If you don t have a template. Keep the cut out and use it to patch the existing opening. Remove the screws that attach the electrical box to the ceiling joist and remove the box from inside the ceiling. Use a drywall saw to cut out the opening for.
I then noticed where the wires were coming into the box in my case they came from the ceiling this is good and bad i then took my drywall saw and started sawing very carefully next to the lightbox toward the ceiling to go around the circle i traced.
